FAQs
Doesn’t the City of Wichita fund the Library?
Yes, the City of Wichita provides core funding for Wichita Public Library for essential operations such as staffing and facilities. The Foundation makes possible the “above and beyond” of innovative programs, special collections, modern technology, fundraising, and more.
Importantly, all private funds raised by the Foundation are used to enhance, not replace, public funding.
Why does the Library have a Foundation?
The Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit with tax deduction benefits for those that give.
Because of that, gifts and endowments to the Foundation have the maximum impact. The Foundation, governed by a board of directors, stewards these gifts to improve the vitality and long-term growth of the Library.
Nico is a frequent visitor when the library’s Book Bus stops by his school. He is the first on the bus and the last one off. I love him and his muddy shoes!
