What We Do

We make your library better.

Our funding supports community collaboration, fostering imagination, and free access to modern technology at Wichita Public Library branches citywide.

Digital access within reach.

Serving those from every walk of life means providing access to digital tools that might not be at home.

Our efforts include providing onsite computer stations and laptops, digital tools within our Library of Things, and free Wi-Fi at benches in underserved neighborhoods.

Lifelong learning together.

Reimagining the Wichita Public Library as a place where people gather together for learning and to share ideas is the heart of our vision.

By creating these valuable spaces in our community, we foster and model lifelong growth and vibrancy. It’s what a strong, modern, and accessible library system provides.

Doesn’t the City of Wichita fund the Library?

Yes, the City of Wichita provides core funding for Wichita Public Library for essential operations such as staffing and facilities. The Foundation makes possible the “above and beyond” of innovative programs, special collections, modern technology, fundraising, and more.

Importantly, all private funds raised by the Foundation are used to enhance, not replace, public funding.

Why does the Library have a Foundation?

The Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit with tax deduction benefits for those that give.

Because of that, gifts and endowments to the Foundation have the maximum impact. The Foundation, governed by a board of directors, stewards these gifts to improve the vitality and long-term growth of the Library.

Nico is a frequent visitor when the library’s Book Bus stops by his school. He is the first on the bus and the last one off. I love him and his muddy shoes!
