Kindergarten Readiness
Consider a gift to support future success.
In recognition of City Manager Bob Layton’s extraordinary service to Wichita, we honor him by establishing Robert Layton Family Place Libraries at all seven Wichita Public Library locations through private fundraising.

Thank you for your investment in fostering childhood development, empowering families and building lasting community connections.

The first three years of life are the foundation for future success. Family Place Libraries, a nationally recognized initiative, strengthens parents and caregivers in their role as a child’s first teacher.
The Robert Layton Family Place Library will feature:
- A welcoming, child-centered space where young children and caregivers can play, read, and learn together.
- Collections of books, toys, and multimedia materials for babies, toddlers, caregivers, and service providers.
- Skilled library staff trained in early literacy, child development, and family engagement.
- Multi-week workshops that connect families with local child development and community resource professionals.

Bob’s work reminds us that great leadership and great libraries share a common purpose: to create spaces and opportunities that inspire lifelong learning and community empowerment.”
