United Way awarded the Wichita Library Foundation an Opportunity on the Plains grant for a program that focuses on kindergarten readiness.

Wichita Library Foundation was granted $19,059 by Opportunity On the Plains for Supersized Summer Reading—a program that focuses on kindergarten readiness.

Throughout the month of April, United Way of the Plains announced the investment of $4,649,177 into 61 local programs provided by 49 area nonprofit organizations.

United Way of the Plains President and CEO Pete Najera commented on this unique grant process, “Thanks to the generosity of donors, advocates, and volunteers, we are able to invest in local charities that strengthen our community, and we believe it is fostering a nonprofit ecosystem that is a force for good in south-central Kansas.”

Opportunity on the Plains is the largest annual investment program from United Way of the Plains to help meet the most pressing needs in our community. Funded entirely through the generosity of local donors and workplace giving campaigns, this initiative reflects a community-powered approach to philanthropy.
